...about releasing balloons.
In an attempt to refine my idea about releasing balloons I started looking around and found out there are quite a lot of rules to follow to protect the environment.
Only latex balloons, not metallic coloured or foil because they're not biodegradable. No valves, only hand-tied knots, and certainly no ribbons. If tags are used they should be made of recycled paper.
Size is also an issue as is number. Balloons cannot be larger than 12” due to Civil Aviation Authority requirements and there must be less than 5,000 or a special permit is required.
Phew, that was good because I don’t think I could manage to hand-tie 5,000 balloons so I decided on sixty to represent my 60 minutes on the plinth. That was a decision but I really wanted to do more than just release balloons.
